Residents complaining about off leash pit bull on Barrhaven walking path

Several residents have been complaining about a rather large pit bull type dog being allowed to run off leash and un-muzzled along the pedestrian paths that border the via rail line between Jockvale and Ceaderview roads. Pit Bulls have been banned in Ontario for almost a decade and dogs that preceded the ban must be leashed and muzzled when out in public.

This particular dog has been causing lots of anxiety for residents using the public path. If this dog is making you feel uncomfortable, you are encouraged to report the incident to the Ottawa bylaw department.

We all love our pets, but it’s important to be respectful of other residents when out on public paths. At the very least, please keep your pet leashed – and yes, you need to hold the leash as well!
